A: A live center is mounted on the tailstock of a lathe. Equipped with precision internal bearings, its tip rotates together with the workpiece to reduce friction and heat during turning. It is widely used for turning shaft parts, different from the dead center (fixed center).
A: It is a high-precision lightweight live center. Ideal for semi-finishing and finishing of shaft workpieces on CNC lathes and engine lathes. It fits medium and light load applications with high rotating speed and strict requirements on workpiece runout.
A: Live center: Rotates with the workpiece. Less prone to burning at high cutting speeds. The downside is bearing clearance, resulting in slightly lower precision than dead centers. Dead center: Stationary with extremely high coaxiality. However, heavy friction causes heat and wear at high speeds, so it is mainly used for low-speed finishing.
A: The radial runout of precision models is ≤0.005 mm. Heavy-duty models usually range from 0.008 mm to 0.01 mm. Accuracy depends on bearing quality and taper grinding. Precision will degrade after long-time heavy-load operation.
A: The DM series refers to heavy-duty live centers. M11 is a precision lightweight live center. 604H represents a high-speed precision version. The suffix numbers indicate the Morse taper shank specification, load capacity and dimension. When purchasing, confirm the Morse taper (MT2/MT3/MT4/MT5) of your lathe tailstock.
A: Check the specification of your lathe tailstock sleeve. Common types include MT2, MT3, MT4 and MT5. The taper shank of the live center must match the tailstock sleeve. Clean chips and oil from the taper surface before installation to guarantee concentricity.
A: 1. Clean chips and oil on the taper shank and tailstock inner taper before installation. 2. Avoid overloaded heavy cutting and long-time continuous high-temperature processing. 3. Prevent cutting debris from entering the front dust seal. 4. Stop use immediately and inspect if abnormal noise or increased runout occurs.
A: Some models adopt replaceable tips. Integrated types cannot replace the tip separately and need full replacement. Confirm whether it is a replaceable tip structure before ordering.
A: Bearings are pre-filled with lubricating grease at the factory. No frequent refilling is required under normal use. For long-term high-speed and high-temperature working conditions, replenish grease periodically per product instructions. Do not overfill grease.
