Key type drill chuck

Basic Definition

The wrench drill chuck (key type drill chuck) is a standard clamping accessory for machine tools/electric tools that must be equipped with a special T-shaped wrench (chuck key) inserted into the side tooth hole, rotated by the internal gear ring to drive the three jaw opening and closing, used to clamp drill bits, taps, and milling cutters.

Advantage

1.Great clamping force and anti slip: the lever gear enhances the force, allowing for heavy-duty drilling, deep hole drilling, and tapping without loosening, making it the preferred choice for heavy-duty machining;

2.Wide specification coverage: The maximum clamping capacity can reach 20mm, and the self tightening clamp cannot achieve large specifications and heavy loads;

3.Durable and low price: simple structure, all steel material, cheap maintenance parts;

4.Anti vibration: The bench drill, rocker drill, gas drill, and impact working conditions are not easy to loosen.

Two types of backend installation

1.Threaded shank: specialized for hand drills, divided into 3/8-24 (10mm chuck) and 1/2-20 (13mm chuck);

2.Cone handle (Morse short cone B handle/R8): specialized for spindle of bench drill and milling machine, B10/B12/B16/B18/R8， Can be equipped with a connecting rod for transfer.

Applicable scenarios

1.Machine tools: desktop drilling machines, rocker drills, milling machines, vertical drills, tapping machines;

2.Electric tools: industrial grade hand drills, impact drills, gas drills, and wind drills;

3.Working conditions: stainless steel, thick steel plate, deep hole drilling, frequent heavy-duty cutting, and high vibration machining;

4.Not suitable for: frequent and quick replacement of drill bits, lightweight home decoration DIY (priority given to hand tightening clamps).

Precautions for use

1. When clamping, the key rotates through multiple perforations in turn, ensuring even force on the three claws and avoiding unilateral slipping;

2. After using the key, remove it and do not clamp it on the chuck to start the machine, as it may be thrown out at high speed and cause injury;

3. For long-term use, regularly clean the iron shavings on the gripper and apply a small amount of lubricating grease to prevent sticking;

4. The installation of the tapered handle requires cleaning the tapered surface to ensure proper fit and reduce radial runout;

5. For ultra hard and large-diameter drill bits, a 16/20mm heavy-duty wrench chuck must be selected. Insufficient clamping of the chuck by hand can easily cause the tool to break.
