Tool Holder Selection Guide (BT & BBT)

1. Confirm machine spindle specification first (top priority)

Standard BT spindle

Only use standard BT holders. Installing BBT holders results in taper-only contact; BBT advantages cannot be realized, causing unnecessary cost waste.

BBT dual-contact spindle

Best option: full BBT holders; standard BT holders are also compatible but run with single taper contact only.

Spindle size reference: BT30 / BT40 / BT50 as marked on machine nameplate.

2.Select based on workpiece material & cutting condition

Mild steel, 45# steel, mass rough milling & drilling

→ Standard BT holders: ER collet, SLN side-lock, C-type power chuck for economical choice.

Mold steel, titanium alloy, aerospace aluminum, deep cavity with long tool overhang & high-precision finishing

→ BBT holders: higher rigidity, no axial pull-in, anti-chatter, longer cutting tool lifespan.

3.Holder styles by tool clamping type

Drills, taps & general end mills: ER collet holder (most popular)
Solid-shank end mills & heavy-duty cutting: SLN side-lock holder, C-type high-power holder
Boring tools: LBK boring holder
Face mill cutters: FMB face milling arbor
